Job Overview Shriners Children's is looking for a dynamic and energetic pediatric hospitalist to join our team at Shriners Children's Chicago.
Site Description - 60-bed facility located 30 minutes outside of downtown Chicago
- Average daily census between 10 and 12 patients
- Pediatric intensive care unit and a full line of both inpatient and outpatient care.
- Specialties: Orthopedics, Spine and Spinal Cord, Congenital Neuromuscular Disorders, Sports Medicine, Craniofacial, Pediatric Rehabilitation and Therapy, Cleft Lip and Palate
- Advanced Practice Provider (APP) support
- EMR: EPIC (outpatient), Cerner (inpatient)
- Press Ganey Pinnacle of Excellence Award winner for Inpatient Pediatric Patient Experience (2023)
- Partnership with the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System to provide advanced imaging, lab services and clinical expertise to Shriners' patients
- Fully equipped state-of-the-art motion analysis center that aims to provide personalized treatment plans for patients with orthopedic injuries, neuromuscular differences and deformities.
- American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association Certified
Schedule - 12-hour shifts, 7:00am - 7:00pm Monday through Friday, maximum of 36 hours in any given week
- Weekend and holiday coverage
- Provider cannot be on-call or provide any other services aside from those listed above simultaneously under any other arrangement during the provider's 12 hour shift. This includes any existing agreement between SHC and any other entity that employs or contracts with the Provider separately to provide services to SHC
Responsibilities - Provide professional pediatric hospitalist services on-site for all patients admitted, under observation, or evaluated within the hospital
- Serve as the first responding physician for emergency services needed within the scope of practice.
- Coordinate non-emergency care, as needed, and consult with the appropriate on-call service for further direction
- Maintain effective communication regarding current status and treatment plans for all inpatients with the incoming team through daily progress notes and status reports

Qualifications - Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
- Must possess or be eligible for IL medical license
- DEA certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
- Must hold a current board certification from the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) (preferred), American Board of Internal Medicine, or American Board of Family Medicine or in final year of ACGME accredited program leading to certification.
- Certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) from the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) or other hospitalist fellowship training highly preferred
