Utilities Unit Manager Reports To: Maintenance, Reliability, & Utilities Manager Direct Reports: 1 direct report, 24 indirect reports Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management: Lead a team of professionals and associates to achieve key performance indicators in plant utilities. Monitor, coach, and develop team members, ensuring alignment with performance goals and safety standards. Drive the completion of root cause analysis and problem elimination within the utilities team. Utilities Operations Management: Oversee the daily operations of steam generation, power, air, and water systems, ensuring efficiency and reliability. Develop and implement short and long-term strategies to optimize utility operations. Collaborate with other unit managers to provide insights and support for improving utility performance. Performance Monitoring & Improvement: Monitor specific energy and water consumption metrics, identifying areas for improvement. Report on daily, weekly, and monthly key performance indicators, preparing and maintaining performance metrics and records. Utilize tools like PowerBI, SAP, and logged data to manage and optimize utilities performance. Budget & Capital Management: Develop, monitor, and manage the Utilities Unit budget, ensuring efficient use of resources. Contribute to the plant's capital strategy, focusing on asset replacement and process improvement within the utilities footprint. Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with plant and corporate functions to deliver utilities initiatives and support sustainability goals. Interact daily with other operating units to communicate utilities performance, coordinate troubleshooting, and manage needs-based interruptions. Requirements: Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering preferred. Relevant work experience and alternate education will be considered. Significant experience in leading cross-functional teams with a focus on asset and utility reliability. Experience with boilers, feed water treatment, turbine generators, electrical distribution, air and water systems, ion exchange, and reverse osmosis systems preferred. Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a matrixed team, lead change, and implement management systems. Proven track record of driving results through team performance and meeting organizational demands within budgetary constraints. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare presentations, present test results, and write concise reports.
