We’re seeking a Freight Operations Lead with deep US freight experience to join our San Francisco team and play a pivotal role in executing on the freight shippers trust us with while training Wilson to become increasingly autonomous.
The Role
As a Freight Operations Lead, you’ll manage freight operations and carrier relationships while working on behalf of shippers to ensure their logistics needs are met. You’ll also collaborate with our engineering and product teams to refine Wilson’s capabilities, helping it learn from real-world scenarios and operate independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Freight Coordination: Oversee day-to-day freight management, ensuring shipments are picked up and delivered on time.
- Carrier Relationships: Build and maintain direct relationships with trucking companies to secure reliable capacity and competitive pricing.
- AI Training: Use operational knowledge to train Wilson, providing structured feedback to improve its ability to autonomously coordinate freight.
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline operations and enhance the efficiency of our service.
- Customer Success: Act as the trusted logistics partner for shippers, ensuring their expectations are consistently exceeded.
- Product Collaboration: Work closely with product and engineering teams to align operational insights with Wilson’s development roadmap.
- Data Utilization: Leverage shipment data to inform decision-making, optimize carrier selection, and improve Wilson’s performance.
Ideal Candidate
- Industry Expertise: Grew up in a trucking family and/or has significant exposure to freight operations.
- Experience: 3-5+ years in freight logistics operations, preferably managing freight for shippers or coordinating directly with carriers.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with AI and technology, with a willingness to contribute to Wilson’s training and evolution.
- Problem-Solver: Strong analytical skills to identify operational challenges and develop effective solutions.
- Team Player: Enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams to align operational needs with product goals.
- In-Person Leadership: Excited to work onsite in San Francisco and engage directly with a growing team.
