Structural Engineer - Short-Term Contract, Houston, TX

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer for a 6-month contract based in Houston, TX. This role is pivotal in supporting the design and construction of a significant launch platform project, contributing to groundbreaking advancements in space technology.
Project Overview: The project involves the design and construction of a cutting-edge launch platform intended for advanced space missions. The role focuses on ensuring structural integrity and compatibility of various subsystems within a complex infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, check, and modify complex structural engineering deliverables, including steel calculations and specifications.
- Utilize GT STRUDL to originate and modify structural analysis models.
- Review and coordinate technical documents across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Author technical reports addressing specific design issues.
- Provide technical guidance to designers and junior engineers.
- Engage in constructability reviews.
Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural or related field) from an accredited university.
- Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience.
- Must hold a U.S. Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL or Staad.pro.
- Experience with Mathcad or similar software.
- Strong capability in structural steel building/tower analysis.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical issues clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in CADD applications like MicroStation, Tekla, and NavisWorks.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of AISC Steel Manual & ASCE 7.
- Experience with engineering procedures and design standards.
Employment Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen and local to the Houston area.
- Availability to work 5 days per week in office.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
