Job Description

Position Title: Vice President of Surgical Services

Location: Austin, TX

Shift: Full-time • Days (No Weekends)

Position Type: Permanent


Job Summary:

The VP of Surgical Services is responsible for strategic growth in surgical services, collaborating with leadership to ensure the effective, efficient, and compliant operation of surgical services. This includes oversight of OR, pre/post, endoscopy, sterile processing, business office, scheduling, and analysts. The role focuses on driving growth, improving operational efficiency, managing financial performance, and maintaining strong medical staff relationships.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement growth strategies for surgical services.
  • Manage day-to-day operations including managing direct reports, expense analysis, and identifying opportunities to improve profitability and reduce costs.
  • Lead process improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage variations in clinical practice to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and transparency in care provision.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Estimate resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities appropriately.
  • Resolve issues and conflicts in a timely manner.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones.
  • Facilitate presentations and communications as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • RN or CST experience required.
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in surgical services required.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse or Certified Surgical Technologist in accordance with state law.
  • Certified Nursing Operating Room (CNOR) preferred.
  • Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) preferred.


Additional Information:

  • Oversight of two locations, each with its own OR, Pre & Post, and SPD teams.
  • Reports to the Admin Team (COO/VP Ops).
  • Competitive salary with a 15% Director Bonus.
  • Sign-On and Relocation Bonuses are negotiable.
