At Barbour Orthopaedics and Spine our innovative team of medical professionals are part of a rapidly growing private practice. We have six practice locations around the Atlanta metro area, including a cutting-edge surgical facility in Chamblee. We are one of the few Georgia practices to offer both a stand-up MRI and an open MRI . In addition, we have state of the art diagnostics tools including digital X-ray, ultrasound, CT scan, and hyperbaric chambers.
We are currently searching for a Physician Assistant or Orthopedic NP to join our growing company at our Chamblee location. The Physician Assistant/NP works as an extension of the physicians in the practice to provide a high level of patient care. The Provider ensures that the patient has a complete understanding of the treatment plan being implemented and maintains the standard of excellence expected at Barbour Orthopaedics & Spine and provides exceptional patient care.
Duties:
- Obtain patient’s history and conduct thorough physical exams in an orthopaedic setting.
- Document thorough and accurate notes in the patient’s chart within a timely manner
- Order and review imaging such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans
- Order and review EKGs and labs as needed to ensure patients are cleared for surgery
- Perform specific procedures in house such as joint injections, dressing changes, casting, splinting, and suture/staple removal.
- Dispense/prescribe medication as needed and ordered by Physicians.
- Educate patients on their diagnosis and treatment plan to ensure understanding.
- Review recommended surgeries with patients to ensure understanding and obtain consent for recommended procedures.
- Responsible for taking either surgical or office calls on a set rotation.
- If you take surgical calls, it may require going to the hospital to follow up on patients either after surgery or when on call at a given hospital
- Must be reachable by phone during the entirety of your time on call
- Scrub into the OR and function as a first assist as needed
- Set up patients for surgery including prepping area, draping with sterile drapes, etc.
- Assist with wound closures/applying post-operative dressing.
- Make sure post-operative orders are entered in a timely manner.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Graduated from a master’s program as a Physician Assistant
- Required: Must be certified as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner and maintain licensure in the state of Georgia
- Other areas with needed requirement
- World Class Knowledge of Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365, O365, Care Cloud and other EHR systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and requests concurrently.
- Ability to effectively deliver clear and concise communication
- Strong planning and organizational skills and ability to be a self-starter
- Able to work under pressure with competing demands requiring ability to effectively organize and prioritize workload and time.
