Johnny Pistolas, a vibrant Mexican cantina in the heart of Adams Morgan, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Restaurant & Bar Manager to lead our front-of-house operations and collaborate on exciting event programming. This role is perfect for a creative, business-minded individual passionate about hospitality, team leadership, and curating memorable experiences for guests.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, train, and inspire a team of servers, bartenders, and support staff to provide exceptional guest experiences.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and hospitality.
- Manage staff scheduling to ensure optimal coverage and efficiency while staying within labor cost targets.
Operations Management
- Oversee daily restaurant and bar operations, ensuring seamless service and adherence to high-quality standards.
- Collaborate with the kitchen to align front-of-house and back-of-house operations.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and liquor regulations.
- Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies and controlling bar and food costs.
Event Management
- Partner with the Event Manager to curate and promote unique events, such as live music nights, themed parties, holiday specials, and private bookings.
- Support in planning logistics, staffing, and operational execution for events to ensure their success.
- Collaborate on marketing strategies to drive attendance and engagement, including social media campaigns and in-house promotions.
- Actively engage with guests during events to enhance their experience and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
Guest Experience & Promotions
- Cultivate a welcoming atmosphere that captures the energy and spirit of Johnny Pistolas.
- Act as the face of the restaurant, addressing guest feedback professionally and promptly.
- Work with the marketing team to develop and execute promotional campaigns and specials, including happy hours and seasonal offerings.
Sales & Financial Management
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, including revenue, labor, and food and beverage costs.
- Develop strategies to optimize profitability while maintaining quality and service standards.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of restaurant and bar management experience, preferably in a high-volume or event-focused establishment.
- Proven ability to manage teams and foster a collaborative, high-energy environment.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
- Experience curating and promoting events is a significant plus.
- Knowledge of Mexican cuisine, cocktails, and tequila/mezcal is preferred.
- Proficiency in restaurant management software and financial reporting tools.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
