We are seeking a driven Paralegal to join our in-house legal department. A successful candidate should possess excellent computer and reasoning skills, effective communication skills and a willingness to learn and grow within.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all internal and external legal communications and management of legal vendors such as landlords, banks, brands, other businesses, customers, and other key correspondences
- Organize all corporate legal matters, provide correspondence where applicable, and follow up with all applicable parties.
- Perform legal research
- Respond to, track, and manage claims
- Prepare, develop and revise contracts
- Play a key role in future initiatives such as updating/maintaining corporate contract management system
- Review legal project tracking and assist with legal review
- Assist with contract and settlement negotiations
- Prepare and maintain corporate records and documents
- Assist with business licensing and registration
- Assist with other legal activities, including but not limited to demands, claims, notices and settlements
- Assist with preparation and filing of legal documents including addendums, EIN for acquisitions, settlement agreements, etc.
- Responsible for reviewing, tracking, and monitoring legislation that impacts the company?s products and/or processes.
- Drafting legal contracts, correspondence and other documents.
- Assist with the development of training and/or presentations on related legal issues
- Overall day to day legal support while working closely with the President and the VP of HR.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree, Juris Doctor, or paralegal certification required. Any intent to attend law school or sit for the bar exam is a plus, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 2 years? experience in a corporate legal or law firm setting
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, meet deadlines and manage a large volume of associated issues
- Familiarity with use of legal research software
- Willingness to do extensive legal and case research
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure
- Manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and PDF editing programs
