Associate Attorney

Calabasas/Los Angeles County


Summary:

A boutique employment and litigation firm in Calabasas is seeking a motivated and capable Associate Attorney with litigation experience. The ideal candidate will be self-sufficient, possess strong client relationship skills, and have a desire to grow with the firm. Excellent writing skills and attention to detail are essential.


Location: Calabasas, CA (with a sister office in the Bay Area)

Salary Range: $100,000 - $135,000 DOE, with potential for higher compensation for more extensive experience.


What You Will Be Doing


  • Client Management: Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing clear and effective communication throughout the legal process.
  • Case Management: Manage all aspects of civil litigation cases, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and court appearances.
  • Legal Research and Writing: Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw and other resources, and draft high-quality legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Trial Preparation: Assist with all stages of trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit organization, and trial strategy development.
  • Court Appearances: Represent clients in court hearings, conferences, and trials.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff within the firm.
  • Candidate will bill 1,800 hours/year (150/month). At most larger firms, 2000 hours is expected.


What You Bring


  • Legal Experience: 1-3 years of civil litigation/trial preparation experience; employment law experience is preferred. General civil work experience (discovery, motion writing) is acceptable.
  • Bar Membership: Active membership in the California State Bar.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Westlaw, and Outlook.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and the court.
  • Work Ethic: Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work product in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
