HVAC Design Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Role Overview: This role is working with a global leader in HVAC manufacturing to manage and contribute to the development of embedded systems within HVAC products, balancing hardware and software integration with real-time computing constraints. This is slated to be a 6-9 month contract with likelihood of extension/conversion to permanent.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with marketing and customers to define HVAC system requirements.
• Oversee hardware, firmware, software, validation, and manufacturing integration.
• Make hardware/software trade-off decisions and define system architecture.
• Capture requirements, write specifications, and develop system test plans.
• Conduct risk reviews and participate in software DFMEAs.
• Balance new product development and sustaining projects.
• Lead project planning and ensure documentation of system requirements.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of systems engineering experience with embedded products.
• Proficiency in IBM DOORS, JIRA/Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
• Experience with 8/16/32-bit microcontrollers and wireless protocols (e.g., WiFi, BLE).
• Knowledge of DFMEAs, digital/analog electronics, and C/C++ programming.
• Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, LabView, and control systems design (preferred).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
• HVAC control system design experience.
