Description
Sycamore Services is looking for Occupational Therapists (OTs) to make a difference in other people's lives and your own by enhancing individuals' abilities to engage in meaningful activities, fostering independence, and improving overall quality of life.
Work Environment : Varies
Reports To : Director, Program Coordinator, and Team Lead.
Location : Indiana
Purpose :

  • Support individuals in achieving their personal goals and improving their ability to engage in meaningful activities ultimately enhancing their quality of life and fostering independence.
  • OTs empower clients to overcome barriers and engage meaningfully in their lives, contributing to their happiness and fulfillment.
  • You are expected to foster independence, enhance the quality of life, and promote holistic well-being for the participants, consumers, and patients.
Responsibilities :
  • Performs occupational therapy evaluation for infants and toddlers referred to the First Steps program including testing/measuring strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency.
  • Maintains detailed records, analyzes client data, and prepares assessment reports with appropriate treatment plans as required.
  • Serves as a member of the multi-disciplinary team that develops and assists in developing and implementing Individualized Family Service Plans.
  • Establishing individualized fine motor and self-help outcomes for program participants, observing, and evaluating the effects of therapy, and recommending adjustments in treatment to maximize benefits.
  • Conducts direct individual therapy sessions with toddlers/infants, including instructing, motivating, and assisting in performing various sensory-motor activities.
  • Operates a motor vehicle for various functions, such as visiting client homes, attending conferences performing assessments and consultations, and conducting therapy sessions.
  • Attends and/or conducts in-service training programs and provides consultations.
Supports & Instruction :
  • Develop personalized intervention plans that outline specific goals, strategies, and activities tailored to each client's unique circumstances.
  • Suggest changes to home or work environments to enhance safety and accessibility, ensuring that clients can engage in activities effectively.
  • Use meaningful activities to engage clients in therapy, helping them practice skills in real-life contexts while keeping sessions enjoyable.
Requirements
  • Have completed and graduated from an accredited occupational therapy professional program, licensed and registered by the Health Professions Bureau of Indiana and certified by the National Board of Certification of Occupational Therapy.
  • Two years of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred.
  • Must be enrolled or be able to be enrolled in the First Steps System.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to make practical application of theories and methods in testing and evaluating fine motor skills of developmental delayed/at-risk children.
  • Working knowledge of Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) guidelines, with the ability to develop and implement appropriate goals and objectives to address individual fine motor and self-help needs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to follow all personnel policies and rules of the agency and maintain confidential records and information as required.
Physical Requirements :
  • Must have effective transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work a non-standard flexible schedule and prioritize and schedule work tasks independently.
  • Ability to move around different environments, including homes, schools, clinics, and community settings.
  • Capability to lift and carry equipment, and materials, and, in some cases, assist clients with mobility aids.
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations.
