Position Summary

The Director of Construction plays a critical role in the success of Apex Construction. This leadership position oversees all aspects of the commercial construction process, from pre-construction planning and budgeting to project execution and client satisfaction. The Director will lead and mentor a high-performing team of construction professionals while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and Manage Construction Team: Hire, train, and mentor construction professionals, including Project Managers, Superintendents, and Assistant Superintendents.
• Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team environment.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities.
• Project Oversight and Execution: Oversee all phases of commercial construction projects, including pre-construction planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
• Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Monitor project progress, proactively identify and resolve potential challenges, and ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, safety regulations, and contractual obligations.
• Quality Control and Safety: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures throughout all phases of construction.
• Prioritize safety on all job sites and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company safety protocols.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Client Relations: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients.
• Serve as the primary client liaison, communicating effectively on project progress, budget updates, and any potential issues.
• Proactively address client concerns and ensure their satisfaction.
• Procurement and Subcontractor Management: Select and manage qualified subcontractors, ensuring they meet project requirements and deadlines.
• Negotiate contracts, manage subcontractor relationships, and ensure timely and quality performance.
• Financial Management: Track project costs meticulously, analyze financial performance, and ensure projects are completed within budget.
• Prepare and analyze project financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall project delivery.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices, new technologies, and emerging trends in commercial construction.

Qualifications:

• Proven Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial construction management with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
• Leadership and Management Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to motivate, lead, and develop high-performing teams.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of construction principles, building codes, and safety regulations.
• Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, Bluebeam).
• Strong understanding of budgeting, scheduling, and cost control methodologies.
