Summary:
The Instrument Engineer will design and specify devices used to control new electronic or mechanical systems or redesign/replace/upgrade older devices used to control existing electronic or mechanical systems.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develops Instrumentation and Control portion of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's)
- Specifies instrumentation to meet project needs based on analysis of present equipment inefficiency and need for improvement for existing installation.
- Collaborates with other engineers to determine which accurate, efficient equipment and instrumentation to specify in accordance with current safety and client performance standards.
Conducts research on new or enhancements to existing technologies that may improve the field of instrumentation engineering and presents findings to other engineers.
- Creates and/or reviews basic schematics.
- Has capability to oversee the implementation of new measuring devices and control systems, ensuring devices are correctly installed and properly tested.
- Drafts Scope of Work Documents.
Required Experience, Education and Skillsets:
- Thorough understanding of the design, development, and application of a wide variety of instruments, including analyzers.
- Thorough understanding of applied math and physics.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Capability to efficiently work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Computer Engineering required.
- 5+ years of practical experience highly desired.
