Sonic Connectors has an immediate opening for a Safety Manager located in Odessa, Texas. 


A Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that all safety policies, procedures, and regulations are being followed by all employees. The job involves monitoring safety practices, conducting safety inspections, and identifying potential hazards in the field and/or workplace. The Safety Manager works closely with field operations teams to identify areas for improvement and develop/implement safety training programs to address specific needs. They also investigate accidents and incidents to determine the cause and recommend actions to prevent similar incidents in the future. The roles and responsibilities of a Safety Manager include:

• Conduct regular safety inspections in the field and/or workplace to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.

• Developing and implementing safety training programs for employees to promote a culture of safety and prevent accidents and incidents.

• Investigating accidents and incidents to determine the cause and recommend actions to prevent similar incidents in the future.

• Collaborating with field teams to identify areas for improvement and develop safety initiatives to address specific needs.

• Communicating with management and employees to ensure that everyone is aware of safety policies and procedures and understands their role in maintaining a safe work environment.

• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and standards and ensuring compliance with them.

• Assist with the development and distribution of site-specific safety plans as needed.

• Developing and implementing emergency response plans to address potential emergencies or disasters.

• Identifying and implementing appropriate safety equipment and tools to mitigate potential hazards in the workplace.

• Developing and maintaining safety documentation and records, such as safety training records, incident reports, and safety inspection reports.

• Continually assessing the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives and recommending improvements as needed.

• Develop and implement safety programs, policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.

• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.

• Collaborate with departmental heads to assess safety risks and develop mitigation plans to eliminate or minimize hazards.

• Provide guidance and support to employees on safety-related matters, including training programs, safety drills, and emergency response procedures.

• Monitor and investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

• Coordinate with external agencies, such as government bodies and third-party auditors, during inspections and audits.

• Conduct safety orientation programs for new employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure they are aware of safety policies and procedures.

• Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

• Stay up-to-date with the latest safety regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends in the oil and gas industry.

• Promote ethical behavior in all aspects of the business and lead by example.


Overall, the Safety Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees in the field. They must have strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills, as well as a thorough understanding of safety regulations and standards. They work closely with various teams and stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and prevent accidents and incidents in the workplace.

Other Requirements:

• Minimum 5+ years of related experience working with HSE field operations/mgmt. 

• Bachelor of Science in Safety (or related field) preferred but not required.

• Effectively communicate with all internal and external stakeholders.

• Proven experience as a Safety Manager in the oil and gas industry, preferably within wellhead operations.

• Strong knowledge of applicable safety regulations, codes, and standards in the oil and gas industry.

• Self-motivated and self-sufficient.

• Demonstrated ability to assess risks, develop action plans, and drive safety improvements.

• Attention to detail and an analytical mindset to conduct thorough safety audits and investigations.

• Proficient in using safety management software and computer systems.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.


The skills and knowledge required for a Safety Manager include:

• Knowledge of safety regulations and standards, such as OSHA, ANSI, and NFPA.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate safety policies and procedures to employees and collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.

• Attention to detail to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.

• Analytical skills to conduct safety inspections and investigate accidents and incidents to determine the cause and recommend corrective actions.

• Organizational skills to develop and implement safety training programs and emergency response plans.

• Knowledge of emergency response procedures and equipment to address potential emergencies or disasters.

• Experience with developing and maintaining safety documentation and records, such as safety training records, incident reports, and safety inspection reports.

• Knowledge of safety equipment and tools to identify and implement appropriate measures to mitigate potential hazards in the workplace.

• Continuous learning and improvement mindset to stay up to date with evolving safety regulations and standards and recommend improvements to safety programs and initiatives.
