A Day in the Life of a Human Resources Director
As the Human Resources Director, you’ll oversee all HR functions across multiple locations, serving as a key partner to leadership and staff. You’ll shape strategies that drive employee engagement, compliance, and organizational success. Your efforts will ensure employees are supported and motivated, fostering a culture of excellence and growth.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations
- Leading full-cycle recruitment, from job postings to onboarding new hires
- Serving as the point of contact for employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns
- Administering employee benefits programs, including health insurance and retirement plans
- Ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws
- Developing and coordinating employee training and development programs
- Supporting performance management processes, including appraisals and coaching
- Creating and maintaining HR policies and procedures across all locations
- Promoting employee satisfaction through surveys, feedback, and engagement initiatives
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (SHRM or PHR certification is a plus)
- At least 5 years of progressive HR experience, including payroll and compliance
- Experience in the financial or credit union industry is preferred
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems and HRIS software
- Exceptional communication and conflict-resolution skills
- Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- In-depth understanding of federal and state labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, etc.)
