Overview:
A well-established specialty contractor is looking for an experienced Estimator to support their Interior Operations team. With a diverse range of projects, including Amazon Facilities, Airports, Children’s Hospitals , and Data Centers , this position offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-impact construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed quantitative takeoffs for construction projects.
- Establish labor productivities and create accurate cost estimates.
- Cultivate strong relationships with vendors to ensure competitive pricing for materials and equipment.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor pricing for work outside of self-perform scopes.
- Assess market conditions and competitive factors to determine appropriate margin percentages.
- Participate in internal bid reviews with project teams to ensure alignment and accuracy.
- Foster and maintain positive customer relations to ensure project success and long-term partnerships.
- Manage contract administration for awarded projects, including wage and benefit schedules.
- Support the transition of secured projects to the operations team.
- Assist with project change orders, billing, and other tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in estimating construction projects, preferably in mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of reading and interpreting project specifications and drawings.
- Proven track record in building and maintaining relationships with clients and subcontractors.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Strong attention to detail and experience with cost analysis.
- Ability to interpret project schedules and assess sequencing and durations for various scopes of work.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff and QuickBid.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience estimating and managing mechanical insulation scopes.
- Previous experience working with union representatives is a plus.
- OSHA Certification.
- Familiarity with the Indianapolis metro area is preferred.
