Location: Manhattan, NY
Reports to: Restaurant Manager
Employment Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-Time

The Opportunity

The Maitre’d position is one of the most important roles in shaping the guest experience, as it sets the tone for the entire visit. You will help to lead the front-of-house (FOH) operations, overseeing guest interactions, reservations, and the flow of service. This role requires working closely with the restaurant team to ensure seamless coordination, clear communication, and exceptional hospitality. As the face of the restaurant, the Maitre’d will uphold the high standards and culture of One White Street, creating memorable experiences for every guest.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome and Seat Guests: Greet every guest warmly upon arrival and ensure smooth seating throughout service.
• Manage Reservations and Guest Flow: Efficiently manage reservations and coordinate seating plans to optimize service, providing accurate wait times when necessary.
• Guest Relations: Anticipate guest needs, address concerns promptly, and maintain positive guest relations to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
• Oversee FOH Operations: Act as the point person for all front-of-house activities, collaborating with the restaurant team to deliver impeccable service.
• Support Staff: Assist in resetting tables and managing transitions during service, stepping into other areas when needed.
• Uphold Hospitality Standards: Consistently deliver a warm, professional, and welcoming experience, embodying the values and culture of the restaurant.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of relevant hospitality experience
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the business
• Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus)
