Compensation: annual + bonus eligibilityLocation: Greater Houston, 100% in office M-F, Business Professional attire.Our client is a maritime transportation and logistics service company based in Houston for almost 50 years. We are currently looking for an ethical, hardworking, operationally focused CAO to lead the accounting team and help support the continued growth and success of the company. This is a great opportunity to come in during a transitional phase and launch the company into the next wave of success. You will be taking a consultative approach being a direct hire salaried employee, with a major upside in compensation during the process.Responsibilities:

Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functionsManaging the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business resultsResponsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysisCoordinating and preparing internal and external financial statementsAssist in the preparation of the work-in-progress scheduleAssist with job cost reviewCoordinating activities of external auditorsManaging the budget processAssessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processesDeveloping and monitoring business performance metricsOverseeing regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliancePayroll tax, releasing of payrollCollaborating with the legal department for financial mattersBuilding rapport with investors, bringing in business relationships with banks and portsRequirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an esteemed institution3.2 GPA or higherMBA requiredCPA is Required10 years of progressive accounting experienceExtensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management requiredDemonstrable process improvement and problem-solving skillsProficient communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are vitalPTO, 401K, HealthcareSeniority level:
