TITLE: Lead Front end Next.js Engineer
LOCATION: Remote
ANTICIPATED DURATION: 6-month contract to hire

Lead Front end Engineer Responsibilities:

• Deep expertise in modern front-end technologies, including Next.js, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and associated libraries and frameworks.
• Strong understanding of front-end architecture, component-based design, and state management (e.g., Redux, Context API, etc.).
• Proficient in building responsive, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines for front-end deployment.
• Knowledge of SEO optimization techniques, including semantic HTML, metadata, structured data, and site performance tuning.
• Familiarity with tools for accessibility testing (e.g., Axe, Lighthouse) and SEO audits.
• Strong experience with responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and mobile-first development.
• Ability to define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and technical documentation.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate and resolve technical challenges.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with technical debt management and strategies for continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for large-scale web applications.
• Understanding of web analytics tools and tracking mechanisms.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and tools for enhanced front-end functionality.
• Knowledge of server-side rendering (SSR) and static site generation (SSG) in Next.js.

Lead Front end Engineer Requirements:

• 6+ years of professional experience in front-end development, including a strong background as an individual contributor.
• 2+ years of experience in a hands-on technical leadership or front-end lead role.
• Proven experience delivering complex, scalable, and high-performing front-end applications using Next.js, React, and React Native.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead front-end projects, ensuring timely delivery and technical excellence.
• Experience with sprint planning, scoping, and estimating work in Agile environments.
• Strong track record of mentoring and coaching developers, fostering technical growth and collaboration.
• Experience managing multiple large initiatives simultaneously while prioritizing tasks effectively.

Lead Front end Engineer Preferred Experience:

• Experience with backend development principles and APIs to better collaborate with full-stack teams.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks like Jest, Cypress, or Playwright for automated testing.
• Experience with design systems and tools like Storybook for component documentation.
• Familiarity with GraphQL or other modern data-fetching approaches.
• Previous experience in healthcare or similar highly regulated industries.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or CircleCI.

The hourly pay rate range for this position is $60.00 to $68.00 (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
