POSITION DESCRIPTION HGL is currently seeking an Environmental Construction Quality Control (QC) Specialist III to provide on-site support for a long-term USACE mine reclamation remedial action/construction project in Vermont.
This position will require a full-time presence on the project site in Vershire, VT. Responsibilities/DutiesWHAT YOU'LL BE DOING The person hired for this role will be responsible for:
- Serving as the on-site lead for project QC.
- Interfacing with project managers, technical staff, clients, subcontractors, and other field personnel.
- Reviewing specifications, drawings, project deliverables, and ongoing construction activities to assure compliance with appropriate plans.
- Confirming all materials and equipment have been tested and approved for use per applicable specifications.
- Performing daily QC checks, tests, and compliance activities.
- Identifying, communicating, and documenting QC deficiencies, as well as ensuring they are corrected in a timely manner.
- Organizing and maintaining project records to ensure all required QC activities are properly documented.
Required SkillsWHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Construction Quality Control Manager for USACE-regulated projects.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management working in close proximity to heavy equipment and excavation activities at large construction or remediation sites.
- Exceptional communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to prepare and maintain project documentation, including daily QC reports, material/equipment inspections, submittal registers, and QC deficiency reports.
- Ability to generate meeting agendas and lead internal and client-facing meetings.
- Experience inspecting, testing, and documenting large scale soil excavation, backfill, and restoration activities.
- Ability to work successfully within a team environment.
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and other MS Office applications.
WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT- Experience with the USACE Resident Management System (RMS) or QCS.
- Bachelor of Science degree from a 4-year college or university in engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience working on project sites contaminated with heavy metals.
