We are seeking a
Senior Industrial Engineer to join our Operational Excellence team in
Duncan, SC. The Senior Industrial Engineer (Lean) will design, develop, and implement the manufacturing systems associated with a fiber optic cable facility. Candidate must have a strong lean manufacturing background coupled with ERP system experience and proficiency. Candidate will be responsible for facility industrial engineering activities including factory layout, operational standards, product costing, material management design and training individuals in systems or processes implemented. Candidate will also be responsible for execution of additional Operational Excellence activities as required.
Responsibilities- Designs factory layout as relates to flow of:
- Raw materials
- In process material
- WIP queues
- Material stores
- Finished goods
- Responsible for designing manufacturing / material planning processes
- Responsible for designing the operational transactions relating to ERP system interface
- Responsible for defining operational standards for labor and resource costing
- Responsible for developing job descriptions and skill requirements for operations and warehouse functions
- Responsible for the technology transfer of operational knowledge following the TWI (Training within Industry) methodology
- Responsible for developing manufacturing improvement plans as relates to labor efficiencies, asset utilization, changeover times, start-up scrap, operational budgets, etc.
- Responsible for training and continual development of operational workforce
- Responsible for completing continuous improvement projects in support of business objectives utilizing IE, DMAIC and/or Lean methodologies.
- Support or lead, when needed, implementation of business and Operational Excellence strategic initiatives

Qualifications- BS/MS in Industrial Engineering or related field
- 10+ years of demonstrated work history delivering operational improvements in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems with preference for Oracle experience
- Developed Lean Tool Set including (5s, Andon, constraint analysis, OEE, root cause analysis, Standardized work, value stream mapping, etc.)
- Experience implementing pull system planning concepts using Heijunka leveling
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite culminating with the ability to collect, analyze and communicate data.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing machinery and process control
- Experience in DMAIC/6-Sigma or other problems solving methodologies
