Role and Responsibilities- Establish and manage engineering guidelines and processes for the Outside Plant (OSP) engineering team.
- Cultivate a high-performing team that produces top-tier engineering solutions to support clients in the telecommunications and broadband service provider sectors.
- Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of engineered products, including plans, specifications, contracts, scheduling, project status reporting, and budgets.
- Develop, implement, and oversee status reporting and internal controls for managing personnel and operational costs.
- Monitor and assess current industry trends and emerging developments within the broadband sector to ensure the company's compliance and expertise.
- Stay current on best practices and trends related to Fiber/Network Construction and Design technologies.
- Coach and mentor team members to enhance engagement and foster professional development.
- Conduct Site Surveys as needed.
- Facilitate communication between the Customer Support and Sales teams regarding network updates and future plans.
- Determine optimal construction methods, including aerial, underground or joint use.
- Developing and managing project budgets, ensuring cost effectiveness and financial responsibility.
- Tracking expenses and providing regular reports to management.
- Prepare engineering drawings, permits, As-Built maps, and project reports.
- Oversee private easement/right of way procurement.
- Generate daily, weekly and monthly status reports.
- Maintain communication with utility companies, as well as state, county, and city governmental organizations.
- Assume additional responsibilities as necessary
Qualifications and Education Requirements- High School Diploma, or Equivalent Education, is required
- Professional Engineer License with five (5) years or more experience in related field (i.e., Utility Engineering, construction, Fiber, Telecommunications)
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, problem solve, and work both individually as well as a team setting
- Proficient in standard Microsoft tools such as Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc.
Preferred Skills- 5-7 years in the telecommunication industry is preferred
- Works well under pressure in both team and individual settings
- Dependable and flexible
- Ability to work in a general office environment as well as in the field as required
Additional Notes- Travel within the state of Indiana is required as needed for engineering needs
- May require evening and weekend work based on business opportunities, client requirements, and applicable project deadlines
