Certification Details BLS ACLS NIHSS Job Details A main Med Center in Eastern Nebraska is looking for PCU RN's. 13 Week contract, 36 hours. Job Requirements BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required. If they hang chemo they need to be chemo certified but not required to work the floor. Other needed competencies: Ventilator, other hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, Aline, Swan, EV-1000), ICP- all can train real time. Schedule Information Shifts: 12 hour. Shift times: 7a-7p, 7a-3p, 3p-7p, 7p-11p, 11p-7a, 7p-7a. Weekend requirements: Every third weekend. Self schedule. RN Ratio (Days): 1 RN to 4 PCU, 1 to 5 M/S RN Ratio (Nights): 1 RN to 5-6 patients Unit Specific Information Unit: 6 East. Level of care: PCU and MedSurg. Number of beds: 27. Patient population: Adults. Common Drips/Medications: chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, protonix. Charge nurse: Yes. Additional unit support staff: PT/OT, RN case manager, social work, educator, dietician. Float: Yes, same level of care. Patient Experience challenges/focus: hourly rounding. Qualities for hires: Teamwork, genuine need to care for patients, adaptability to cultural diversity and different religious beliefs. Additional Details specific patient types/diagnoses - Oncology PCU and Trauma PCU how much experience they are wanting - 1 year ok with first time travelers - yes for the charge- is this experience required, if so how long - yes minimum 1 year How many beds - 28 What ratios do they run - 1:4 PCU, 1:5 med/surg, it's a mixed unit More specific patient diagnoses commonly seen so we can ensure we are vetting candidates with appropriate experience - oncology and trauma Do travelers need specific oncology experience or is PCU experience okay? - no PCU is fine Are RNs required to titrate drips: insulin occasionally cardizem What are common titratable and/or set rate drips Is BLS and ACLS required - yes Where will PCU- Oncology travelers float to - med/surg and PCU units How much orientation will they receive - 2 days
