Full TimennShift DaynnWork Schedule SummarynnVP Area Academic AffairsnnDepartment 00158 - Coll of Architect & Plan-DeannnLocation CampusnnCity Salt Lake City, UTnnType of Recruitment External PostingnnPay Rate Range 18.00 to 21.63nnClose DatennJob SummarynnShop Technician needed with at least two years of related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); demonstrated knowledge of general maintenance and associated tools; the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and climb step ladders/scaffolding; and, demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required.nnResponsibilitiesnnAssists the shop personnel and Faculty with projects related to shop equipment to support the college’s curriculum and mission.nnPerform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and tools in the shop.nnFollows supervisor’s instructions to ensure the shop functions appropriately while providing students with shop-related education.nnConducts routine checks on machinery to determine maintenance required for proper operation.nnTraining and operation of several different types of shop-related equipment including a CNC Machine and Laser Cutter.nnAssists in the transportation of tools and equipment as needed.nnSuppors the shop with routine and semesterly cleaning duties and responsibilities to maintain a clean and safe workshop.nnEmployees may unlock/open the building in the morning and lockdown/close the shop in the evening.nnEmployee may need to work weekends and other hours outside of regular operating hours (8:00 a.m.—5:00 p.m.).nnOther duties as assigned.nnMinimum QualificationsnnTwo years relevant work experience in the applicable trades areas; a basic understanding of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, heating, air conditioning, and welding; and the ability to move heavy objects required. A valid Utah Driver’s license; positive oral and written communications skills along with excellent customer service skills; and the ability to read and work from wiring diagrams, appliance handbooks, blueprints, and drawings also required.
