Job Summary


The health, safety, and environment (HSE) specialist is responsible for ensuring that the place is safe and compliant with health and safety regulations. This role will provide technical and regulatory expertise and will have an active role in continuous improvement of Siegwerk’s HSE programs and policies. Additionally, this role will proactively advise site management of compliance concernsand be an active partner in providing strategic direction and solutions.


Job Responsibilities


  • Safety programs: Developing, implementing, and managing safety programs, including training and onboarding programs for employees in all levels of the organization. Lead behavior-based safety program, and champion site’s safety committee.
  • Safety inspections: Inspecting workplaces to ensure compliance with regulations and identifying violations. Participates in internal HSE audits, assisting the evaluation and appropriate corrective actions.
  • Incident investigations: Participating in investigations of accidents and identifying potential hazards. Complete action item tracking and follow-up for timely execution of improvements.
  • Regulatory compliance: Ensuring compliance with local, state, federal, and corporate regulations. Gather and report data for compliance reporting.
  • Risk management: Maintaining a risk register to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Perform daily Gemba walks to help identify risks and calibrate with department leaders for resolution. Lead HAZOP reviews and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA). Supporting role in Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) development.
  • Employee well-being: Leading occupational health programs to promote employee well-being and safety.
  • Strong, collaborative presences in production and warehouse areas, building relationships, and ensuring HSE compliance. Occasional off shift work for training or special events.
  • Return to work: overseeing injury management and supporting employees in returning to work.
  • Reporting: Preparing reports and providing feedback to managers and employees. Responsible for verbal and written HSE related communications to Siegwerk team members.


Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar HSE role.
  • Proven track record of successful implementation of safety and environmental programs.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety is highly desirable.
  • Equivalent combination of skills and experience.


Preferred Qualifications


Chemical background, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts.

  • Knowledge in SAP preferred, but not required. Must be proficient in learning new software applications.
