Estimator
Location: Alameda, CA - fully onsite
Compensation: $38 to $48 per hour DOE
Type: Temp to Hire
Work Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday (weekends as needed, but not often)
Responsibilities:
- Create comprehensive repair estimates, ensuring accuracy through extensive documentation and analysis of project requirements. Conduct thorough assessments to identify all repair needs and associated costs.
- Engage directly with project managers and clients to thoroughly assess project needs, gather pertinent information, and address any concerns. Ensure alignment on project goals and scope to facilitate seamless project execution.
- Partner with sales account managers to process change orders, manage Requests for Quotation (RFQs), and address any client adjustments. Maintain open communication to ensure client needs are met and expectations are managed throughout the sales and execution processes.
- Analyze and interpret contract terms and specifications, drafting detailed, accurate proposals tailored to customer requirements. Ensure proposals align with project objectives and industry standards, while clearly articulating scope, timelines, and cost factors.
- Handle specific aspects of the estimation process, contributing essential data and documentation. Work closely with project managers to compile these components into a final, professional presentation for client approval.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of construction or vessel estimating experience.
- Professional communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working on government contracts and documentation for bid packages.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Excel, with knowledge of Primavera preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a similar discipline, or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project management experience.
- Understanding of lean principles and continuous improvement processes.
- Proven ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams and adapt to different environments.
