Key Responsibilities: Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques to collect blood samples from patients of all ages. Accurately label and document all collected specimens according to laboratory protocols. Prepare, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory while maintaining proper handling procedures. Ensure patient comfort and safety during the collection process, including proper identification and site selection. Adhere to infection control, safety, and confidentiality standards at all times. Maintain and inventory phlebotomy supplies, restocking as needed. Respond to patient inquiries and provide clear instructions regarding the procedure. Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure timely processing of samples. Enter patient data and test orders into the electronic health record (EHR) system accurately. Handle and dispose of biohazard materials according to safety regulations. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a certified phlebotomy training program. Previous experience in phlebotomy or a clinical laboratory setting preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks. Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures. Current CPR certification is a plus. Work Environment: This position may require standing for long periods and frequent walking. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious materials is possible, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.
