The Position
Reporting to the Director of Operations – Industrial, the Plant Manager is responsible for leading production and operational support teams to produce quality products in a safe manner, on time, economically, and at desired levels of customer care. This role supports safety initiatives throughout plant operations and provides continuous improvement direction and support on the production floor. The Plant Manager directs, manages, and implements operational initiatives at the Cambridge plant to support Industrial and Municipal Business Unit strategies and goals, including capital investment plans.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership to production and operational support teams, including Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Shipping, and Operational Administration, to achieve plant safety, quality, on-time delivery, and productivity goals.
- Support all Health and Safety initiatives related to the facility by providing leadership for all policies and procedures and continually improving safety records by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes.
- Develop and maintain strong employee relations within all levels of the company, while also motivating, coaching, and developing a diverse, high-performing leadership team.
- Lead the implementation of new manufacturing initiatives, including allocating strategic resources and applying continuous improvement principles for improved efficiencies.
- Establish annual operating budgets, inventory control targets, and performance goals for department leaders, including ownership of the annual capital planning process for the facility.
- Engage in supply chain initiatives to strengthen critical vendor relationships and improve lead-time performance.
- Provide regular engagement and collaboration between cross-functional departments.
Candidate Profile
The Plant Manager will have a proven track record of success leading manufacturing and supply chain activities. The fully qualified candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in business administration or engineering or a recognized equivalency. This individual should have a minimum of 10 years of supervisory and/or managerial experience. Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is preferred.
