Descriptionnn$10,000.00 SIGN-ON BONUS ELIGIBLEnnJob Summary/Overall ObjectivesnnPerforms Magnetic Resonance exams to produce images of various anatomical parts and systems for diagnostic purposes as directed by radiologist.nnEssential Job FunctionsnnCollects pertinent data about the patient and the procedure.nnReconfirms the patient's identification and verifies the physician's order.nnAssures that the proper screening protocol is completed prior to patient entering scan room.nnProvides information to patients about the procedure.nnVerifies the patient has consented to the procedure and answers any questions.nnProvides accurate explanations and instructions at an appropriate time and at a level the patient can understand.nnAnalyzes the information obtained during the assessment phase and determines optimal imaging parameters per diagnosis.nnSelects appropriate imaging coil and positioning devices when needed.nnDetermines appropriate type of contrast to be administered.nnProperly positions patient in the MRI unit relative to the type of exam being performed.nnProvides hearing protection to the patient.nnAdministers contrast agents according to established guidelines.nnMonitors patient during exam for adverse reaction to contrast media.nnMaintains constant communication with patient during procedure.nnUsing sterile techniques preps site and starts I.V. when applicable.nnObtains optimum images during scan.nnReformats images as needed to better visualize anatomy or pathology according to established guidelines.nnSends images to PACS for interpretation by radiologist.nnDocuments information about patient care, exams, and patient history in appropriate record.nnVerifies correct order is entered into HIS/RIS.nnDocuments appropriate patient history into PACS system.nnDocuments any exceptions to the established guidelines.nnScans appropriate documents into PACS system.nnCompletes MRI screening form.nnFacilitates correspondence with all departments to assure procedures are done in a timely manner.nnWorks with Centralized Scheduling, nursing units, and ER to accommodate STAT or ASAP orders.nnResponse to emergency call per department procedures.nnMaintains equipment and workstation in optimum condition.nnPerforms daily QC on MRI equipment.nnAssures adequate patient care and office supplies are maintained.nnReports equipment malfunction to service provider/supervisor.nnImplements downtime procedures, as necessary.nnCoordinates rescheduling of patients during equipment downtime.nnInitiates established downtime procedures during HIS/RIS and PACS downtime.nnParticipates in on-going MRI safety training.nnAttends department meetings as directed.nnOther duties as assigned.nnCompetency and Experience (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)nnRequired Qualifications/ExperiencennCompletion of a (JRCERT) accredited Radiologic Technology program recognized by ARRT.nnStrong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment.nnStrong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.nnMedical Terminology.nnBasic working knowledge of computers and office equipment.nnPreferred Qualifications/ExperiencennPrevious venipuncture experiencennLicense, Certification & ClearancesnnCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program.nnAct 33 with renewalnnAct 34 with renewalnnAct 73 FBI ClearancennCurrent MRI certification or ARRT registered technologistnnSupervisory ResponsibilitiesnnThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.nnPosition Type/Expected Hours of WorknnIncumbents will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).nnTravel may be expected locally between Independence Health locations.nnEqual Employment OpportunitynnIndependence Health and its affiliated companies are Equal Opportunity Employers.
