Job Description

SummarynnSr Accounting Specialist performs specialized accounting functions and recommends/implements solutions to accounting problems. Sr Accounting Specialist coordinates the preparation of data, computer input, account control, adjustments, corrections, and the reporting of financial data.nnDuties and ResponsibilitiesnnPerforms accounting services with primary support in Disbursements (Accounts Payable, Payroll).nnPrepares journal entries and reconciles account balances with appropriate records.nnConducts special investigations and compiles accounting data for specific activities.nnProvide updates and documentation for processes and procedures.nnCoordinates or performs the accumulation, analysis and distribution of accounting data.nnCoordinates accounting methods and recommends/implements improvement in departmental procedures.nnPerforms liaison activities with accounting management, internal and external customers.nnInvestigates problems and implements corrective action.nnReviews and analyzes accounting data for compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations and DOE/NNSA orders.nnAssists in training personnel in various accounting routines and procedures.nnAnalyzes financial system output and initiates corrections as required.nnPerforms, reviews, and analyzes a variety of financial-related calculations.nnYou Must HavennHigh School diploma and 5 years of relevant experience.nnAbility to travel up to 5% of the time.nnAbility to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.nnUnited States Citizenship.nnRegular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.nnWe ValuennAssociate’s degree in accounting.nnKnowledge of general accounting or payroll methods and practices normally acquired through a degree in accounting or equivalent formal education and experience.nnProficiency in in Microsoft Office Suite.nnAbility to quickly analyze complex financial information and initiate/recommend appropriate actions.nnHoneywell is an equal opportunity employer.
