SUMMARY The Communications Manager will support external communications efforts across the BSE platform. This includes pitching and placing stories, drafting press releases, assisting in the development and execution of communications strategies, and staffing media and events. You will focus on BSE's sports teams and arena events, including Barclays Center, the Brooklyn Nets, and the New York Liberty. The Communications Manager will report to the Senior Director, Communications.
WHAT YOU WILL DO - Pitch and place stories related to BSE executives, including business and programming initiatives, while also increasing executive exposure through industry events and conferences.
- Pitch and place stories related to BSE sports properties and Barclays Center events. Subjects of stories include business, marketing, merchandising, global, community, and entertainment initiatives, etc.
- Draft press releases and media advisories.
- Assist in maintaining the department's storylines, fact sheets, media outreach tracking documents, and media distribution lists.
- Oversee media onsite at events, including concerts, college basketball, boxing, and family entertainment.
- Be responsible for promoter relations and coordination for concerts.
- Own communications related to F&B, premium spaces, hospitality and sustainability measures at Barclays Center and across new platform properties.
- Manage media relations for entertainment and community verticals related to the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty.
- Supervise Communications Intern on a seasonal basis.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING - Bachelor's degree is required.
- Three years' experience in a strategic communications role with a track record of delivering measurable results through both internal and external communications.
- Experience at a Public Relations firm/agency or within entertainment, music, or sports industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of key players in the sports and entertainment industry and an understanding of how industry news directly or indirectly affects the business.
- Experience working with reporters/editors/producers and pitching stories of all types to a wide selection of media outlets.
- Extensive media contacts and knowledge of both New York and national media with the ability to identify new media outlets and generate coverage regularly.
SALARY RANGE $75,000 - $90,000 base salary
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS May be required to travel on rare occasions (< 5% travel); trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay for one or more nights.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Works primarily in an office environment but will be expected to attend games and other events on evenings, weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.
