NPR is seeking an analyst with strong technical skills to support the back-end data flows and infrastructure required to assess the journalism that our newsroom produces and its service to our audience. This role will be responsible for overall data tracking implementation required to understand the output and performance of content.
This is a union represented role covered under the terms of a collective bargaining agreement with
NABET-CWA DMU.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Reporting to the Audience Insights team with dotted line to VP Content Business Strategy and Operations, this role will work closely with leaders across the content division to gather tracking and data needs to understand NPR's content mix and overlap across platforms, including NPR's website, app, and third party platforms
- Responsible for establishing and monitoring data quality across platforms
- Work directly with product managers and developers to implement tracking needs, plus diagnose and resolve data issues
- Become an expert of and query databases housing NPR's content performance data and metadata
- Facilitate access to data, preparing data summaries, and informing data pipeline needs
- As needed, create self-service tools such as dashboards and other data access points for content analysts, leadership, and related staff
- Train relevant leadership and staff on the use of existing and newly created tools
- Write guides, FAQs and other training materials
- Thoroughly learn, use, and understand NPR's line of analytics applications and services
QUALIFICATIONS- Demonstrated expertise in SQL and databases, GA4/Firebase preferred
- Data tracking implementation experience, Google Tag Manager or similar experience preferred, familiarity with HTML and Javascript a plus
- Experience establishing and maintaining data summaries and dashboard data sources from large complex datasets
- Able to anticipate and translate ambiguous needs into concrete analytics infrastructure needs
- Dashboard creation and maintenance experience, Looker and Looker Studio experience a plus
- Experience in media analytics a plus
WORK LOCATION- Remote Permitted: This is a remote permitted role. This role is based out of our Washington, DC office but the employee may choose to work on a remote basis from a location that NPR approves.
JOB TYPE- This is a full time, exempt position.
COMPENSATIONSalary Range: The U.S. based anticipated annualized salary range for this opportunity is $99,382.72 - $113,542.11 plus benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.
