We are seeking a full-time
Product Engineer to join our AFL Hyperscale team in
Kent, WA. The Product Engineer will be part of a high-performing team responsible for all activities related to the supervision and execution for product design, development and transitioning to manufacturing for part numbers released in the organization. He/she will be responsible for cable design and system integration in support of the manufacturing of fiber optic cables. In addition, he/she will be responsible for ensuring that products are in line with customer requirements along with current manufacturing capabilities.
Responsibilities- Designing and launching of new fiber optic products in line with customer requirements and current engineering systems
- Designing incremental product improvements/enhancements to meet specific customer requests.
- Manage design development as new products move through our new product introduction (NPI) stage gate process.
- Create, validate, and approve Bill of Materials, Drawings, Item Attributes and Assemblies structures in Oracle ERP thorough the applicable Engineering Request (NPR, NPC, ECR) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) Procedures.
- Responsible to revise that all documents (BOM/Drawings/CAD Models/Specifications) related to the end product design meet the customer's requirements or project requirements prior to production launch.
- Responsible and leader for Engineering Change Order process from the release to the full implementation, applicable for new product introductions or changes to the existing products.
- Responsible for validating and approving Temporary Change Authorization (TCA) related to changes in the product structure, as well any impact to the end product specifications; also, can provide support in the TCA elaboration when needed.
- Responsible to validate and approve the instructions for the First Article Inspection (FAI) related to new/revised components released thru the ECO process and new Suppliers for existing components, as well responsible to provide the FAI resolution (Approval or Rejection).
- Responsible to lead and coordinate the Validation and Verification runs (V&V), from the V&V Order release thru the V&V completion, including the deliverables follow-up with the rest of the areas involved (Quality, Process Engineering, etc) including the resulting Engineering Changes from the V&V run.
- Responsible for providing support to the R&D, Quality and Process departments to the elaboration of end products Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Control Plans and Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis.
- Responsible to elaborate and lead/implement improvement projects such as, but not limited to:
- Raw material and components standardization
- Product/Design improvements to reduce cost optimize assembly process and reduce/eliminate quality issues.
- Standardize BOM/Drawing structures and item definitions to optimize the sustainability and maintenance of databases.
- Interfacing with various groups like Solutions Engineering, Product Line Management & Global Product Engineering teams (NA, EMEA & APAC) to develop & maintain new product concepts.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment assessments, background & reference checks
- Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL Hyperscale.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Qualifications- Bachelors of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of working experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a technical industry (fiber optic industry preferred)
- Computer skills - MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access experience.
- Solid works & PDM experience.
- Oracle or other ERP system knowledge is preferred.
- Fiber Optic industry experience, especially fiber optic connectivity development and/or applications preferred.
- Experience in product development/engineering and project management.
- MS Project experience is preferred
- Bilingual English-Spanish preferred.

- Salary Range for this Product Engineer role is $78,900 - $126,240, depending on experience
