Job Description

A renewable energy company, dedicated to environmental sustainability growth and innovation is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join the legal team. This role involves advising on a wide range of employment matters. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will be a key member of the legal team, partnering with executives, engineers, and outside counsel. You will be the sole employment counsel for the company, which has nearly 3,000 employees.


Responsibilities:

  • Draft, maintain, and review templates and policies for employment matters.
  • Handle employment matters including hiring, worker management, performance management, employee relations, leaves of absence, discrimination and harassment laws, wage and hour issues, internal investigations, immigration/visas, compensation/benefits, and termination issues.
  • Oversee Workers' Compensation and other employee claims.
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws and other regulations.
  • Develop and implement employment law strategies to address business challenges.
  • Resolve employment-related litigation, claims, and investigations.
  • Manage and evaluate outside counsel on employment matters.
  • Collaborate with in-house legal team on employment issues.


Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution and active membership in good standing with at least one state.
  • Minimum of 7 years of labor & employment experience in a corporate legal department or at a law firm.
  • Experience with employment matters such as hiring, workforce management, performance management, employee relations, leaves of absence, discrimination and harassment laws, wage and hour issues, internal investigations, compensation/benefits, and termination issues.
  • International labor and employment legal experience is a plus.
  • Experience with labor relations and union issues is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
