Division Leader / VP of Operations

Scott Humphrey has partnered with a client looking for an experienced and results-oriented Division Leader / Vice President of Operations. This executive-level role requires exceptional leadership skills, a deep understanding of civil construction methodologies, and the ability to drive operational excellence across multiple projects and teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with the executive team to ensure business growth, profitability, and operational efficiency.
• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of civil construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Oversee resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to maximize efficiency and productivity.
• Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and best practices across all projects.
• Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes to enhance performance and reduce costs.
• Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing operations team, including project managers, superintendents, and field staff.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Champion a culture of safety across all operations, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other industry regulations.
• Monitor safety performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
• Serve as a key point of contact for escalations and high-level project discussions.
• Develop and track KPIs to monitor project performance, profitability, and operational efficiency.
• Provide regular updates and reports to the executive team on operational activities and outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Advanced degree (MBA or similar) is a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of operational leadership experience in civil construction, including large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction techniques, processes, and equipment.
• Proficiency in project management software and construction technology tools.
• PMP, CCM, or equivalent certifications are advantageous.
• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Exceptional leadership and team-building skills.
• Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
• Strong financial acumen and understanding of project cost controls.
