Job SummarynnThe Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients undergoing scans for diagnostic purposes. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will use the scanner to create images of various areas of the patient’s body which will emit radiation from the drugs to indicate the presences of diseases.nnEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesnnSupports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.nnRadiant Epic AccessnnPreparing and administrating radiopharmaceuticals orally or by injection or inhalation.nnExplaining the imaging procedure to patients, answering questions and ensuring their comfort while placing them in the appropriate position for scanning.nnOperating imaging equipment, such as SPECT /CT scanners.nnProcessing images of the brain, thyroid, bone, heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver on the computer.nnKeeping detailed records of the amount and type of radiopharmaceutical used and of the procedure.nnProducing computer-generated images for interpretation by the physicians.nnFollowing safety procedures to protect staff and patients from unnecessary radiation exposure.nnMaintaining current knowledge of the frequent advances, innovations, and developments in the field.nnOther duties as consistent with this role.nnJob Requirements: (education and experience/preferred and required)nnJob Knowledge and SkillsnnOperating equipment and ensuring the safety of all medical staff and patients from unnecessary radiation exposure.nnExcellent technical and computer skillsnnAttention to detail.nnGood communication and interpersonal skillsnnStrong critical thinking and analytical skills.nnEducation and ExperiencennNH license and certification to practice nuclear medicine requirednnBasic Cardiac Life Support certification requirednn1 year experience preferrednnAn equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.nnWorking Conditions/Physical DemandsnnMust possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
