The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).
JOB SUMMARY:
Operates vehicles for patient transport within a correctional healthcare setting in a safe manner. Provides routine inspection and maintenance of vehicles. Provides diversified administrative, clerical, and technical assistance/service within the correctional healthcare setting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists with safe, prompt transfers of patients between correctional facilities, Hospital Galveston and other free world destinations throughout a large geographical area.
- Maintains daily log of mileage, number of trips, passengers, destination and fuel/oil consumption.
- Inspects condition of all assigned vehicles on a regular basis with regard to oil, fuel, tires and water.
- Reports any needed adjustments or repairs to supervisor.
- Provides a clean, safe environment; performs or assists others to perform proper aseptic techniques, isolation procedures, and infection control measures.
- Operates personal computers to enter and assimilate data, generate reports, draft routine correspondence, and develop special administrative analyses.
- Performs facility administrative support tasks including but not limited to answering the phone, filing, faxing, scanning and mail functions.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for department.
- Performs related duties as required.
EQUIPMENT: Standard hospital, clinical, and office environments in both a correctional and free world setting. Standard office equipment. Operation of 5,897 lb Patient Transport Driving vehicle with a maximum patient load of six (6) and a 7,250 lb Multiple Patient Vehicle with a maximum patient load of ten (10). Operates vehicles under adverse weather conditions and emergency driving situations. Rotating shifts may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: - High school or equivalent.
- Three (3) years related experience.
- Valid Texas Driver's License required.
Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
