Job Description

Overview:

The Estimator provides cost-estimating support to ensure effective project decision-making, focusing on cost, schedule, and risk mitigation for successful delivery. This is a 3-year contract role that will begin in Spring 2025.



Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates based on project scope.
  • Conduct earned value analysis and align costs with project schedules.
  • Perform field visits to validate estimates.
  • Support cost analysis by identifying and explaining variances.
  • Update estimates as projects progress.
  • Develop and maintain estimating templates and best practices.
  • Participate in post-mortem reviews to improve future estimates.


Support specific projects, including:

*Auxiliary Boiler Replacement

*Emergency Power Replacements

*Service Transformer Protection Replacement

*Large Motor Replacements

*Steam Generator Inspections

*Reactor Maintenance and Fuel Handling

*Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrades

*Standby Generator Overhauls

*Maintenance Program Management

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering OR Engineering Technologist diploma.
  • 5+ years’ experience in cost estimating for capital construction projects.
  • Proficiency with estimating tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).


Key Skills:

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills; bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
  • Leadership: Skilled in coaching, conflict resolution, and team collaboration.
  • Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and analyze data.
  • Adaptability: Quick to learn new tools and processes.
  • Analytical: Detail-oriented, proactive in identifying and solving challenges.
