Job Description

A Credit Risk Manager is primarily responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive credit risk assessment frameworks, monitoring the creditworthiness of clients, managing the credit portfolio, analyzing credit risk data, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards by formulating and maintaining credit risk policies, all while collaborating with various departments to mitigate potential credit losses within an organization.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating and monitoring the creditworthiness of new and existing clients through financial analysis, credit reports, and market conditions to identify potential risks and determine appropriate credit limits using credit scoring models.
  • Formulating and maintaining credit risk policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and best practices, ensuring updates based on market changes and organizational strategies.
  • Actively monitoring and managing the organization's credit portfolio, analyzing credit exposure and risk concentrations, and implementing strategies to mitigate credit risk through credit limit setting and collateral requirements.
  • Generating regular reports on credit risk exposure, portfolio performance, and risk mitigation strategies for senior management, conducting ad-hoc analyses and stress testing to assess potential impacts on credit risk.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to reduce credit risk, including enhancing credit scoring models and risk assessment tools, reviewing and recommending improvements to existing credit risk management processes.
  • Creating and validating credit risk models (e.g., probability of default, loss given default) to predict credit losses, maintaining tools like RAROC, and utilizing statistical analysis to enhance credit risk forecasting.
  • Working closely with departments like underwriting, finance, and sales to ensure alignment on credit risk management practices, providing guidance and training to staff on credit risk policies.
  • Ensuring credit risk practices adhere to relevant regulations and industry standards, preparing for and facilitating internal and external audits related to credit risk

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience with credit risk in a commercial and residential loan environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field
  • Bilingual - English & Spanish preferred
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk assessment methodologies, financial analysis, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in credit risk management software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
