Looking for variety and technical challenges? We're searching for a forward-thinking Electrical Engineer to provide design support and project management of a wide-range of facility improvement projects within the High Ed market sector.
Here's a Taste of What You'll Be Doing:
- The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for providing detailed electrical drawings for construction.
- The Engineer will manage multiple and concurrent projects through all phases at a project engineer level, from conceptual design, evaluate constructability, planning, detailed design, interdisciplinary coordination and construction administration, including resolving technical issues.
- Other functions include preparing construction documents utilizing AutoCAD, writing specifications, field survey, and meeting with UMD personnel to review drawings.
- Provides electrical reviews for designs developed by A&E firms as well as peer reviews for in-house projects.
- When in-house design is elected, work under the direction of a Project Manager to carry out all duties necessary for the planning and design of construction documents for projects to maintain, repair, or alter existing electrical systems.
- In conjunction with O&M staff, investigate and analyze problems with campus electrical systems. Prepare studies and reports on findings.
- Coordinate with O&M staff and with other university departments on planned electrical work.
- Review drawings and specifications on projects that have been developed in-house or by an outside A&E firms to ensure compliance with university and general construction standards, as well as federal and state safety regulations.
- Review designs for construction clarity, cost effectiveness and completeness.
- Review electrical submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and inspect installations as needed to provide construction administration support to Project Managers.
- Participate in Substantial Completion inspection to determine compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Other duties as assigned, such as Utilize software to perform electrical load calculations, lighting calculations, etc.
You'll Be a Perfect Fit if You Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineering registration is a plus.
- EIT/FE required.
- US Citizenship is required.

Compensation & Benefit Offerings:
- Base Salary range - $95,000 – $140,000 (based upon experience)
- Additional Incentive Pay for overtime hours
- Annual Profit Sharing Bonus (variable)
