Job Description

Our client, a leading construction management firm, is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join their team in Brodhead. This role is crucial in ensuring project success and client satisfaction.


Job Purpose

As a Construction Project Manager, you will serve as the primary contact for clients during the construction phase of projects. Your role is to delight clients while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and within scope.


Key Responsibilities

Project Management (50%)

  • Provide construction management oversight, strengthening client relationships
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, costs, deliverables, and change orders
  • Coordinate and direct the work of trade contractors
  • Monitor project progress and quality
  • Review RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Participate in project meetings and planning sessions
  • Ensure client requirements are met through effective communication channels
  • Mitigate risks for both the company and client organizations
  • Monitor safety, authorizations, and third-party coordination
  • Provide project management support, including bids, schedules, cost reports, and cash flow predictions
  • Coordinate contractor resources and issue resolution with design firms

Client Relations (30%)

  • Serve as a liaison for clients, staff, and construction management teams
  • Address problems and challenges with urgency, collaborating with the team as needed
  • Apply learnings to improve communications and processes

Supervision and Leadership (20%)

  • Provide day-to-day coaching, feedback, and direction for effective performance of the project team
  • Identify and support development opportunities for team growth and improvement


Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the building systems/operations field
  • Strong understanding of scheduling and risk management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to translate technical jargon and project-related information to meet client needs
  • Demonstrated success in problem-solving and delivering innovative solutions
  • Proven ability to operate with integrity and empathy, building lasting trust-based relationships
  • Self-directed and highly organized approach to work
  • Ability to hold self and others accountable to drive projects forward
  • Strong computer skills with competency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam
  • Experience reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of codes and contract law
  • General accounting knowledge and capacity
  • Able to travel approximately 30-50% of the time and accommodate flexible scheduling


Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as OSHA and CCM
  • Safety training
  • Procore proficiency
  • Experience working with K-12, higher education, municipal facilities, programs and priorities
