About the Position:
Currently, we are seeking a full time Embroidery Technician who will act as the foremost expert on embroidery machinery at our facility in Comstock Park, Michigan (Near the corner of 6 Mile and Alpine). You will be responsible for operating, maintaining, monitoring and adjusting industrial embroidery machines to operate at their peak performance. You will work independently, with minimal supervision, or with assistance to perform tasks which range from simple to complex. Responsibilities for this position include diagnosing problems, replacing/repairing parts, testing and making adjustments, reading and interpreting equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Essential Functions:
• Maintains equipment, including needles, bobbins, steamer, etc. and notify supervisor of any maintenance or safety issues.
• Using work orders and machine specification papers, determines machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance
• Must take initiative to quickly troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, air compression, hydraulics, liquid compression, electrical system, and automation system issues as they arise
• Troubleshoots equipment issues and determines best means for maintenance and repairs, whether it be outsourcing or performing the work in-house
• Reassembles equipment after the completion of work
• Inspects or tests damaged machine parts, and marks defective areas or advises supervisors of repair needs
• Installs, replaces, or changes machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications
• Dismantles machines and removes parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes or hoists
• Records production, repair and machine maintenance information
• Sets up and operates machines, and adjusts controls to regulate operations
• Completes preventative maintenance tasks on equipment as detailed in preventative maintenance program
• Works safely and follows all company rules and procedures.
• Works with Embroidery leadership and digitizers to understand best practices and enforce standard work.
• Perform other related responsibilities as may be assigned or required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No formal direct reports but will be responsible for training and mentoring embroidery operators on best practices.
Requirements
• Minimum of 4 years of embroidery experience. This position is for an expert user of embroidery equipment and can perform maintenance.
• Very well versed in the Tajima Embroidery Equipment as well as Lasers Bridges.
• Sewing experience is helpful but not necessary, will train on the job
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain efficiencies within standard guidelines
• Demonstrated experience trouble shooting embroidery equipment
• Ability to stand up to 5 hours, twist, bend, and move about equipment
• Dexterity to thread needles
• Ability to push down with pressure on top hoop to secure the garment to bottom of hoop.
• Occasionally lifts 5 lbs to 10 lbs boxes when job is complete.
