ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a Nuclear Engineering Project Manager for our next generation nuclear client. In this role, you will be leading the design, development and fabrication process for the new reactors. A main part of this role is being the point of contact to subcontractors for the fabrication process. If you have experience with project management in the nuclear industry with specific subcontractor/supplier management experience, please apply!
- Lead the development and delivery of reactor equipment, ensuring safety and reliability from design through construction and startup.
- Manage the complete product fabrication lifecycle, including design for fabrication, construction drawings, and testing plans.
- Develop and approve material and weld specifications for reactor components.
- Oversee procurement strategies for reactor materials, including long lead items.
- Advise on schedules for fabrication and assembly, integrating timelines across suppliers and project teams.
- Interface with design and fabrication teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry codes (e.g., ASME BPVC).
- Resolve non-conformance issues and manage engineering changes.
- Collaborate with regulators, stakeholders, and customers on design and regulatory matters.
- Review and ensure the quality of design work from subcontractors and external engineering teams.
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field; M.S. preferred.
- Experience: 8+ years in large component fabrication, or equivalent experience with an M.S.
- Quality Standards: Familiarity with ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001; experience with ASME N-Certificate quality programs is a plus.
- Fabrication Expertise: Proven experience in heavy mechanical/pressure vessel fabrication, including oversight of suppliers and subcontractors.
- Nuclear Experience: Background in design and fabrication of nuclear components or similar equipment is highly desired.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII and/or Section III.
- Specialty Skills: Knowledge in welding, weld qualification, or Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M) is beneficial but not required.
- Communication Skills: Excellent ability to collaborate with a diverse engineering team.
- Problem-Solving: Capable of managing multiple priorities and solving complex problems with minimal supervision.
- Teamwork: Strong integrity and a commitment to open communication and respect for team dynamics.
- Travel: Domestic and International travel to subcontractors
