About us: Bloomsday is a female-led neighborhood restaurant located in Headhouse Square. Under the direction of chef/owner Kelsey Bush, Bloomsday is focused on providing warm and personal service, excellent food and stellar beverages. 

We're looking for an enthusiastic, people-focused Beverage Manager to direct and manage all aspects of our robust beverage program!

Primary Purpose: The primary function of the Beverage Manager is to oversee Bloomsday’s beverage program from planning to execution. This role is responsible for the selection, purchasing, stocking and serving of all beverages in the restaurant. The Beverage Manager must work closely with the Chef de Cuisine, the General Manager and the Events Manager to ensure a cohesive experience for staff and guests. This role is tasked with ensuring front of house staff is supported throughout all aspects of beverage service, and that the guest experience is enhanced through this staff support. 


Job Responsibilities: 


  • Plan, organize and direct all beverages (including, but not limited to: cocktails, beer, wine, n/a and coffee) for the restaurant
  • Facilitate, lead and monitor staff beverage training
  • Maintain the beverage program’s focus, pivoting if necessary, to honor ownership objectives
  • Analyze sales data in conjunction with the General Manager to elevate performance of beverage categories
  • Purchase and control inventory for the restaurant, retail shop and bottle list
  • Negotiate supplier arrangements for all beverages and beverage supplies
  • Coordinate with the GM on the ordering of all non-beverage supplies (conservas, wine glasses, etc)
  • Trend forecast, using both local and national data, to keep Bloomsday’s program up to date on the latest beverage styles
  • Develop and R&D the cocktail and beer program with a focus on seasonality and education
  • Develop a relationship with buyers and importers
  • Curate weekly and monthly specials
  • Lead staff education about wine and other beverages, coordinate with guest lecturers to further education
  • Collaborate with the events coordinator to organize monthly or quarterly beverage-focused events
  • Curate beverage menus for both in-house programming and private events
  • Be available for occasional off-site events
  • Be an example of excellent customer service and community mindedness for all staff. 
  • Assist the GM in effectively communicating food and beverage menus to all staff and guests. 
  • Acquire and maintain a dynamic understanding of menu items including ingredients and processes. 
  • Acquire and maintain a dynamic understanding of dietary restrictions, aversions, and allergies.  
  • Communicate and strategize with other restaurant leadership to ensure restaurant goals are being met. 
  • Assistant the GM in overseeing correct cash handling procedures including biweekly deposits. 
  • Establish and maintain additional bar related tasks ie: side work, weekly cleaning, opening and closing procedures. 
  • Supervise the cleanliness and upkeep of the bar and guest contact areas of the restaurant. 
  • Enforce and monitor all health, safety, and sanitation standards in FOH areas. 
  • Gather guest feedback and work with the GM to ensure proper handling of comments, concerns and inquiries. 
  • Responsible for the quality assurance of all bar items leaving their outlets before they reach guests. 

Required Qualifications: 


  • Maintain reliable and predictable attendance. 
  • Must be self motivated and customer service oriented.
  • Must be community minded and willing to engage and lead in a team oriented environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining all aspects of quality before, during, and after service. 
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational ability, must be able to multitask with extreme attention to detail. 
  • Prior experience with food handling and customer engagement.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards. 
  • Must be RAMP certified. (We will subsidize certification if necessary!)
  • Ability to establish and maintain a POS system including troubleshooting issues. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain a restaurant reservation system including troubleshooting issues.
