Job Title: Environmental Engineer (Remedial Design)

Location: San Diego, CA

Job Type: Full-Time, hybrid

Position Overview:

As an Environmental Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing remediation strategies to address contamination at environmental sites. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and apply innovative, practical solutions for soil, groundwater, and sediment remediation. This position requires expertise in environmental engineering, regulatory compliance, and remediation system design, as well as the ability to manage and execute projects effectively.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and design environmental remediation systems for soil, groundwater, and sediment contamination, including in-situ and ex-situ treatments.
  • Conduct site investigations and assessments to determine the nature and extent of contamination, including sampling and data analysis.
  • Develop remedial action plans, feasibility studies, and engineering reports to support site remediation efforts.
  • Apply advanced environmental engineering principles to design cost-effective, efficient, and sustainable remediation systems.
  • Oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of remediation systems, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements and project objectives.
  • Prepare and review environmental permits, compliance documentation, and progress reports for regulatory agencies.
  • Manage remediation projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with subcontractors, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Stay current on the latest developments in remediation technologies, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on remedial design and project management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and compliance.
  • Ensure that all projects are executed with a focus on safety, quality, and environmental protection.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental remediation, including remedial design and system implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental remediation technologies and techniques (e.g., bioremediation, pump and treat, soil vapor extraction, air sparging).
  • Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, and state-specific regulations.
  • Experience with site assessment, contamination mapping, and risk analysis.
  • Proficiency in environmental modeling software and design tools.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills, including the ability to prepare reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to travel to and work at remediation sites as needed.
