Job Description

Are you an experienced Geotechnical Engineer looking for an opportunity to lead, mentor, and collaborate with a talented team of geologists and engineers? My client is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a well-established and dynamic team with a reputation for delivering high-quality results.

With the current Senior Geotechnical Engineer nearing retirement, this is an excellent opportunity for you to step into a leadership role, help bridge the experience gap, and guide our next generation of engineers.

Why Join Us?

This is more than just a job—it’s a chance to be part of a team that values relationships, creativity, and technical excellence. We’re a small, employee-owned firm that prioritizes collaboration and takes pride in seeing projects through from concept to construction.

Here’s what makes our client unique:

They operate three fully accredited materials testing labs in Eureka and Willits, CA, and Coos Bay, OR.

The team includes 10 geologists (5 of whom are Senior Engineering Geologists) and 11 materials testing technicians and special inspectors.

They serve both public and private clients, ensuring stability and diversity in our project portfolio.

They are looking for a seasoned geotechnical engineer who thrives in all stages of project implementation and is passionate about mentoring and developing talent within the team.

Qualifications:

Senior-Level Geotechnical Engineer

  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years in geotechnical engineering, with at least 5 years post-GE license.
  • Expertise in:
  • Foundation design (shallow and deep)
  • Slope stability evaluation and retaining wall design
  • Seismic hazard analysis (liquefaction, settlement, slope failure)
  • Ground improvement techniques
  • Leadership: At least 5 years of project management experience.
  • Mid-level GE experience: A strong background across a variety of geotechnical engineering challenges is preferred.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills.
  • A passion for problem-solving, innovation, and creativity on projects.
  • A commitment to supporting the technical growth of our geosciences team.
  • Why You’ll Love Working Here
  • Small team, big impact. We’re a team-focused company with fewer than 120 employees, making collaboration a cornerstone of our culture.
  • Work-life balance. We’re located in rural areas where you can enjoy a high quality of life while working on exciting and challenging projects.
  • Multidisciplinary expertise. You’ll collaborate with engineers, geologists, planners, surveyors, and environmental scientists to bring a diversity of skills to each project.

If you’re ready to lead, mentor, and make a lasting impact within a supportive and collaborative team, we’d love to hear from you!
