Job Description

Our client, a rapidly growing Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) based in Orange County, California, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Leasing Attorney to join their dynamic legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional with a strong background in commercial leasing, as well as experience in purchase and sale transactions and development work.

Responsibilities:

  • Leasing:

    • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial leases, amendments, and related documents.
    • Provide legal advice and support on leasing matters to internal stakeholders.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to leasing activities.
    • Manage lease disputes and work with property management to resolve tenant issues.
  • Purchase and Sale:

    • Assist in the negotiation and drafting of purchase and sale agreements.
    • Conduct due diligence for property acquisitions and dispositions.
    • Coordinate with external counsel and other parties involved in transactions.
  • Development:

    • Provide legal support for real estate development projects.
    • Review and negotiate development agreements, construction contracts, and other related documents.
    • Advise on zoning, land use, and entitlement issues.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant leasing experience in a law firm or in-house setting.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial real estate law, including leasing, purchase and sale, and development.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to legal work.
