About the Role:
Position: Kernel Developer
Location: Redmond, WA (Onsite)
Summary:
The Surface team is looking for a Software Development Engineer with expertise in firmware, embedded systems, or device driver development. This role focuses on developing new features, improving drivers, and resolving technical challenges to enhance product usability and stability.
Responsibilities:
- Develop firmware and drivers for Surface products.
- Debug issues using tools like WinDbg, ETL traces, and analyzers.
- Collaborate with teams across hardware and software.
- Work with prototype hardware during development stages.
- Drive end-to-end integrated customer experiences.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in firmware, embedded systems, or device driver development.
- Proficiency in C/C++, Windows kernel, UEFI, and debugging tools.
- Familiarity with interfaces like SPI, USB, and I2C.
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Salary Range: $ 130,000 - 150,000 Annually - Factors that may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
