Job Description

We are seeking a talented Linux Engineering Manager to join our dynamic and forward-thinking organization. Based in Atlanta, GA , this role will oversee a team of engineers, ensuring the scalability, security, and reliability of our Linux-based systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of Linux engineers, fostering professional growth and collaboration.
  • Prioritize and assign workloads to team members, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
  • Define performance metrics and KPIs, reporting progress to upper management regularly.
  • Architect scalable infrastructure solutions and assess utilization trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define system requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project roadmaps, timelines, and documentation.
  • Optimize and manage multi-site data stores at a petabyte scale.
  • Oversee network hardware administration, including VPNs, ACLs, load balancers, routers, and firewalls.
  • Troubleshoot and monitor network issues, implementing effective solutions.
  • Maintain and improve centralized logging, monitoring software, and operational policies.
  • Manage vendor relationships for hardware/software purchases and contracted work.
  • Ensure compliance with security and operational standards across multiple datacenters.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a large-scale networked Linux environment.
  • Expertise in CentOS, Rocky Linux, and RHEL engineering on the LAMP stack.
  • In-depth knowledge of VMware, NFS, DNS, FTP, Rsync, and firewalls.


Bonus Skills

  • Experience with AWS services such as IAM, EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, and Lambda.
  • Networking experience with Fortigate hardware (VPNs, ACLs, traffic monitoring).
  • Familiarity with IDS, penetration testing, and InfoSec tools.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards such as SOC 2 Type 2 and security audits.
  • Proficiency with Splunk, Cacti, and MySQL HA for network and database optimization.
