Job Title: Air Freight Coordinator

Location: Carson, CA (onsite Monday-Friday 9:00am-6:00pm)

Pay: $22–$30/hour (depending on experience), Non-Exempt (hourly position)


Responsibilities

  1. Air Cargo Operations
  • Manage air import and export shipments.
  • Process documentation, including airway bills, invoices, and customs declarations.
  • Plan and direct the flow of air traffic for international shipments.
  • Open shipment files in the dedicated software system.
  1. Stakeholder Communication
  • Coordinate with airlines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other partners.
  • Resolve shipment issues or delays professionally.
  • Negotiate with domestic customers and mediate with foreign clients to reach agreements.
  1. Compliance and Regulations
  • Ensure adherence to customs, aviation, and local regulations.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and update processes accordingly.
  • Handle dangerous goods shipments in compliance with safety standards.
  • Assist clients with certification, physical inspections, and packaging arrangements for hazardous goods.
  1. Inventory and Tracking
  • Use tracking systems to monitor cargo movement.
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and provide status updates.
  • Communicate shipment delays or documentation issues to clients and agents.
  1. Customer Service
  • Provide exceptional service by addressing inquiries and offering tailored shipping solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to encourage repeat business.
  1. Team Collaboration
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as sales and warehouse teams.
  • Support colleagues, supervisors, and department managers as needed.
  1. Problem Solving and Improvement
  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Handle unexpected issues, such as delays or damaged cargo, proactively.
  1. Reporting and Analysis
  • Prepare reports on shipment status, performance metrics, and operational challenges.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and improve processes.
  • Facilitate billing by preparing transaction reports for all stakeholders.
  1. Cost Management
  • Monitor operational costs to maintain profitability.
  • Negotiate rates with service providers to achieve cost-effective solutions.
  1. Training and Development
  • Train new employees on procedures and company policies.
  • Share industry best practices and updates with the team.
  1. Documentation and Recordkeeping
  • Verify shipping documents for accuracy.
  • Maintain organized records of all transactions and shipments.


Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in air export operations is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Proactive, organized, and capable of multitasking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with GoFreight software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with air import operations and freight forwarding is preferred.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.

  • Must pass a TSA background check and a pre-employment background screening.
